On April 13, 2007 I went in for a regular ultrasound, to see how big Isaac was, and to see if he was head down. Everything check out good...they estimated he was 6lbs 13oz. And he was head down and ready to go. I talked to my midwife, and since I had went 10 days over due with Dennis, I asked her how long she would make me go over with Isaac. She said, if I haven't had him by his due date, if I wanted to check into the hospital the next day I could. Which I still had a month to go...but I told her I was so ready to have him. I went home and went about my normal day...then about 10:30 that night...I thought I was pee'ing all over myself, then realized maybe it was my water. We went in to L&D and sure enough it was. I wasn't in labor though, so they gave me all night to see if I would go on my own. I didn't, and the next morning, my Midwife came in. I told her I thought I was ready to have him, but really I wasn't ready this quick. Around 3 pm on the 14th...I really started having a "gut" feeling something wasn't right. Of course they couldn't get the ultrasound machine to work...and finally when they checked...they felt feet. So, she called everyone to get to the hospital for a c-section. But Isaac did not want to wait. He was born, at 4:13 pm on April 14, 2007 one foot at a time. They wheeled me to a recovery room, and when I woke up Dennis, my husband came and told me that they believed he had EB (my husband has DDEB) They also thought something was wrong with his stomach/intestines and they were flying him to Vanderbuilt Children's hospital. Later that night, I was able to hold my baby for 5 min. before he was loaded up and took to the little air strip to get on a plane. Once he was in Nashville, he had problems learning to suck a bottle, so he had to stay a bit longer than we first thought.
It sure doesn't seem like that all happened 3 years ago! My sweet baby is not really much of a baby anymore! He is a real "big" boy!!!
